Silly things you have done this week

As per the title - Silly things you have done this week.

Bill English will be thinking he was to soft of that girl last night.

Me: New rear tyre fitted today on the Ducati - which means I remove the mufflers to get the wheel off. Wheel back on - those open pipes were too tempting - fired it up in the garage sans mufflers .....

You know it's going to be loud right. My left ear is ringing. Possibly not one of my best ideas.

On reflection I've done this before several times with different bikes over the years ....... slow learner apparently.

What have you done?

Tips for transitioning from 4-stroke to 2-stroke

Hi there, I am an older female rider. Got into motorbikes at the ripe age of 42. I ride a dual purpose 250cc 4-stroke bike, and I love adventuring riding. My husband is in the process of lowering a KDX to satisfy my need to experience the joys of riding a dirt bike. It has a pro-circuit pipe so is definitely more peppy than anything else I have ridden.

I have been on it, on absolute tippy toes, a few times, enough to get used to the throttle and attempt some of the easier twisties out at the river. My hope is that once it is lowered I will be able to kick it over myself, and to get confident enough to do organised trail rides on it.

Would you mind please giving me the heads up as to what are the main differences I should be prepared for in going from a 4-stroke to a 2-stroke with a procircuit, especially when it comes to hills. I tend to go downhill super cautiously, so do I need to worry if I am off the gas that the engine will stall and the wheels lock? This has happened to me on my 4-stroke and it is not a feeling I enjoy! And going uphill, I would be keen to avoid the front wheel lifting, or accidentally getting air at the apex. Any pointers would be appreciated.

My husband is an experienced rider but is not always forthcoming with advice - drop em in the deep end and let em work it out for themselves LOL. This has actually been good in a number of respects. But I have a need to prove myself here, and I feel like I have already given the menfolk in my family enough opportunities to laugh at me.:nya:

Thanks!

Great Service from 1Tonne

Hi guys,

just wanted to let you know that I just got some great service from 1Tonne. In April I bought some boots which fit my wider foot quite nicely. I haven't been wearing them too often yet but some weeks ago the zip on the left boot came apart. It only happened once so I didn't complain. But now the zip slid out the top and it came apart again on the bottom of the zip.

I contacted 1Tonne in an email and told them about my problems. Please note the warranty of 3 months had just expired. Without any discussion and debate Nathan and Natalia from 1Tonne said they will send me a replacement today. This is perfect service in my eyes.

I wanted to give something back to them so I thought I just let you guys know about it, I hope that's ok. Apart from being their customer I have no relationship with 1Tonne or any of their staff at all.

Thanks for reading

Cheers

Peter

The joys of finding a post box...

So I don't use snail mail regularly these days, I mean who does?

Had a bunch of forms that needed signing and returning by snail mail. No worries, just cruise past my local dairy on the way to work at stupid o'clock in the morning. Mmmm, no mailbox there any longer. It'd been a while since I mailed something, so left this task until after work. In broad daylight it should've been a little bit easier to find a mailbox huh? Always when you're looking for one...they all seem to be hiding. But yeah, I found one so mailed my goodies.

Got me thinking though, is there an easy way to find whether my little village actually still has a mailbox? What do you know, NZ Post have thought of this...

http://ift.tt/2wNPEMB

Now I'm not surprised the number of mailboxes has reduced, just didn't realise they're damn near extinct now :weep:

Full rider looking for tips on Wife bike

I hope this is the right section.
For context;
I am now a full rider for the last few years, I take my bike down to Red Baron for services and maintenance.

The wife is somewhat interested in learning to ride, and we happened across the idea of getting a bike that I can pull to bits and learn to do the maintenance on, and for her to learn to ride on.

Does anyone have tips on what bike would be the most common for affordable parts etc? My first thought was something like a GN250, they used to be everywhere. Other thoughts welcome.

They didnt appear to have any problems on the track that I could see but I was just wondering what the affects of this pratcice really are and is it good to go or a no no?.

Election Bribes 2017

Election Bribes.

This shit is getting out of hand. The country will be broke post election.

My daughter can vote this year - she is finding the BS rather confusing. My advice to her is - look at the policy then party vote for who gives you the best deal. Then look at the performance of your local prospective MPs and vote for the one who has done or will potentially do the best for your region.

Me - I reckon I could get at least a handie from my local if I swear I'll vote for them .......

Leak down tester - Anyone willing to lend one out in auckland

Does anyone in Auckland have a leak down tester they would lend me for a few days? Bike is a ktm505sx-f and it has 10mm spark plug holes.

My research has shown that the motion pro kit is the best one with a 10mm hose/adaptor but cycletreads wants $400 for it.

I'm trying to diagnose a hard starting problem.

Can anyone speak/read Russian?

We have a 2006 Mazda 2 1.3L that's an import and I can't seem to find a service manual anywhere so I've just guessed most things such as service intervals and so on. The ones I have found don't include the 1.3 engine or something else doesn't line up.

Anyway, I have got a copy of a full service manual for the 1.3 but it's all Russian. All I really want is the attached translated, and no google translate doesn't pick up the picture too well as it's scanned.
I'm happy to pay for someones time, just PM me.

After all this time, I've finally worked out,

. . how to deal with telemarketers and scammers. Usually I'd just swear profusely at them, but that is more likely to get you put on some high rotation call late at night revenge list.

Instead I now ask them if they've accepted Jesus into their life. Seems to get rid of them pretty quick smart and hopefully upset them as revenge for disturbing you.

Although perhaps I was a bit quick just before with the lady caller. Maybe she was calling from Microsoft about my computer software.

After all this time, I've finally worked out,

How hard is a Honda CRF-R to kick over?

I am an older female rider (I have teenagers). I ride a Kawasaki Super Sherpa, which I love, however I am finding I have a burning need to experience the joys of an actual dirt bike before I feel I am past the age for it. We have a KDX200 which I tried riding but am quite limited by the fact I cannot reach the ground and can only come to a stop where my husband can 'catch' the bike:lol:. And, of course it is too high for me to kick over. I have tried, without success, to convince him to put a lowering link on it. And so I am trying to persuade him that our younger son's next bike ought to be a Honda CRF-R, (which he would only get to ride when I am done with it.) My husband is shaking his head to this idea too, saying it will be too hard for me to kick over? What is your experience with this? We used to have a xlr125 which I kicked over without much trouble. I rarely stall these days so would restarting the bike be an issue other than when I can off? Thanks.

Displaying WOF and Reg stickers

Weird question, but probably surprisingly common... The little plastic holder for WOF and Reg seems to have come unscrewed, meaning my bike is a little more naked than usual.
I have got a new holder and a copy of the WOF from the dealers, but they didn't stick anything together for me as I didn't have the bike there (was running errands with the car). I don't want to get pinged for not displaying either thing correctly - which one should face outwards, the WOF or the registration?
I will locktite the screw (it must have jiggled itself undone).

Mirrors

Hi everyone just wanted to share one of the best and cheapest safety upgrades I have done to my bike! I got a pair of small blind spot MIRRORS from super cheap for $5. I stuck these to the inner part of my MIRRORS where you see your arms! I got the ones that you can rotate. I park in a car park between two cars and turn these so I can see the most of the cars either side of me. Done! Fantastic when riding no more blind spots and turning around all the time you can see cars in your blind spot MIRRORS right beside you awesome and heaps safer. Cheap as well. Can't recommend enough.! Just wanted to share so try them out .

Wayne Gardner Feature Documentary

Hi all,

I'm a researcher with GFC Films. Our team is working on a feature documentary about 1987 500cc world champion Wayne Gardner to be released in cinemas next year. Directed by Jeremy Sims (Last Cab to Darwin, Beneath Hill 60) and produced by the company that made McLaren (2017), the film will tell the exhilarating story of Wayne’s triumphant, improbable journey from a 5-dollar dirt bike to the international summit of sport.

We are gathering archive for the film and are interested in any footage/photographs that you may have of Wayne or his associates. I’ve attached a spreadsheet of a timeline of Wayne’s career and events that might jog your memory. Rows highlighted in green are of particular interest to us. Please feel free to get in touch with me at tom@gfcfilms.com
Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.

Unfortunately, I need to reduce the number of bikes I own; both my dirt bikes are up for sale.

This little thing is a beast.

6 things nobody tells you about being a biker

This is what it really means to be a biker:

"We stink, we stupidly risk our lives just to exchange platitudes, people try to murder us constantly (and that's only when we're not trying to do it ourselves by riding between cars and running lights) and all while constantly, constantly covered in screaming spiders -- and we all still ride."

lower fork bolt keeps turning- solution for VFR800

OK you have the forks out of the bike, and you want to change the seals therefore need to get the lower fork bolt removed, it either comes out easily or wont budge, or keeps turning, I have had all the situations above, the most frustrating is the turning bolt that wont come undone.

This is how I fixed it after hours of trying all methods.
Get a mate to help
1) Strip the cap of the top of the fork, drain oil, remove the spring and washers etc so you are left with is the rod and nut sticking out.
2) What you need to do now is get the rod in alot tension to the lower part of the fork. ie like trying to pull it out.
3) lay fork flat on a bench
3) Get a block off wood that stops the lower part of the fork moving forward.
4) Get an adjustable wrench 12 inch + and fit in behind the nut on the end of the rod.
5) now get another piece of wood and cut to a length that will jam between the nut and the other block of wood this acts as a brace for the wrench to act as a fulcrum , so you can lever alot of tension into the rod. Allow about 10mm gap so the wrench (lever) can fit behind the nut.
6) pull hard on the wrench, this will put alot of tension on the lower nut.
7) your helper then uses a rachet gun or drill to remove the nut.

Worked a treat for me.

WTB WTB - Yamaha RD50 or DT50, Suzuki TS50X or similar

Hi there,
Just looking for my next project and something the good lady can pop into town on with no licence dramas once it's tidied up. I had an RD50 back when I was 16 so have a soft spot but also interested in more trail style so Suzuki Ts50x, Yam DT50 or MR50. Something late 70s or 80s preferred I know there are a few on offer at the moment but none of them are registered. Don't need to be mint but do need to be running and at least with rego on hold. Thought it worth an add here as who knows what's lurking in a shed somewhere unwanted. Not on line that much so feel free to txt 0226155327

Bikes HONDA VRX400 - LAMS approved

This is a rare 1996 Honda VRX400 Roadster. It is LAMS approved, easy to ride, great V-Twin engine with a really easy torque curve from 0 - 100+ Kph. It is a really great bike to learn on and keep riding after if you want. Looks great and sounds good too through the big muffler. It would make a superb project bike for a bobber, scrambler or cafe racer too if you're that way inclined. Selling due to passing my full and moving further out of Auckland.

New rear tire, front OK for WOF. Oil and filter change 2k kms ago. In last 6 months or so has had new chain and sprockets and steering head bearing done. The bike is not in pristine condition as it's my daily ride but OK. Can be viewed in Waimauku or in Auckland CBD during the week. Note: The seat is not the same as in the photos, this one was too thin so I sourced a stock seat from the UK that is way more comfortable

64,500 Kms (will increase as I ride it daily)

I'm looking for various luggage/packs to use with my bike. I need to cover a couple of eventualities and was wondering if anyone had suggestions for brands/options. I don't mind spending a bit or buying piece by piece, I want good quality.

Bike has a Ventura pack rack fitted (currently off, it looks naff). I have a 20L (?) Givi top box, which is currently on the garage floor, propping up a hot water cylinder and stopping it from rolling away... To date I've not had any reason to need to take anything with me on the bike, but commuting without my car is in the very near future (yayyyyy).

First: backpack. Waterproof. To fit lunch, work laptop, change of clothes and shoes, odds and sods, rain suit, for commute to and from work. Would be ideal if it could fit either pants or jacket in it while I was wearing said change of clothes at said place of work, but not essential.

I also need some sort of pack, pannier or luggage type of solution for inter-city travel (about 1.5-2 hours each way). I can take laptop and small things in backpack, so I need to fit clothes for the weekend and any odds and sods (most weeks I end up taking work and personal laptops to and from the big smoke, at the moment I'm carrying at least 3 textbooks as well). I foresee other adventures in the future (ie not just commuting and travelling between home, flat, and work, while lugging my study stuff around).

I'm lusting after a Kriega backpack, is there anything else comparable/better? The Ventura pack-mounted bags are all ugly as sin but I could get over that as I don't have to look at them while I'm riding.

New member looking for first bike recommendation, have done a fair amount of research

Hey guys.

Long time lurker, first time poster. I am new to biking and looking for a recommendation for my first bike, I am currently on my restricted license.

I am looking for a Sportyish/Street fighter style bike, specifically I like the look/style of the Yamaha MT-03 or Honda CBR250R.

Here is what I am looking for out of a bike:
-Low maintenance/reliable (I understand bikes need more maintenance than cars which is fine, but I think it is fair to say I am not very mechanically minded so even small issues would be going to the garage).
-250-300CC
-Prefer power in the low end rather than faster top speeds
-Decent resale value after 2 years
-Comfortable for 6'0 rider
-Budget $4000 (stretch to $5000 for the perfect bike)

I would prefer a second hand bike simply because if I drop/scratch it I am not going to be to worried, especially if it already has a couple of scratches. On the other hand you can get some new bikes around my budget that come with a 3 year warranty which would give me great peace of mind the bike isn't going to be constantly in the garage.

At the moment my top choice is a Suzuki GW250 simply because that is the most affordable bike that meets most of what I am after but really keen to hear any other suggestions.

Thanks

Northland: South Island Events

Hello from germany, or as we say "Moin Moin!"

Hi everybody!

A few days ago I set this account up and now it's about time to start! :)

My name is Michael and on August 1st. I took over the social media-jobs at Wilbers Products in Germany - we're a suspension-manufacturer as some of you may know. Today many people see social media as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and so on, but I'd like to rely to message boards as well. In my eyes forums are the best way to talk to a certain group of people with a certain interest.

But don't be worried, that I'll be flooding the board with messages like "Hey, you're searching for a new helmet? Ever thought about a new suspension-kit?". I'm here to help within the community, if there are any questions about our products and to be part of the community.

I think we'll get along and I start this topic with kind regards :)
- Michael

Hello from germany, or as we say "Moin Moin!"

Hi All... Newbie here, and thoughts on new bike?

Chiselmad here,
returning biker after 14 years!!!! i know, scary but exciting.
so currently looking for the bike, i have a couple in mind, XSR 900 or a Triumph Tiger 800 XRX.
i'd welcome thoughts on either, and also thoughts on JAP imports, as the triumph is 2015 model.
hopefully going to get out off the tarmac a little bit too.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Cheers

Bikes VFR750 RC36-2 + spare low k motor and spares

WANTED - A GOOD OWNER!

Hi All...sadly a forced sale, unable to ride any longer due to injury

So I thought I would offer up my old girl to the KB community at what I think is a bargain price, in the hope a local KBer might want to grab her, the spares and all my bike gear etc...before I chuck it all on trade @5k no reserve

Comes with a spare low K motor with matching speedo.

Also comes with a few spares - exhausts, rear shock, chain, front cog, front tyre, front headlight, speedo

A great all-round bike, tours, scratches, cruises and is really easy on tires petrol and brake pads, and has the typical VFR reliability & sound

Shes been under a sheet at the back of the garage for over two years now (Just unable to ride safely anymore)
Body is not going to get any better, so its best I accept the new 4 wheel version of transport and let this fantastic bike go to a new home...and hopefully a good owner.

Needs a new Battery, WOF & the rego is currently on hold.

She runs great, no noises, knocks or smoke etc, just your typical honda V4 - smooth, lots of torque and sounds bloody nice! (pipe has been...err...liberated? of some "restrictions":msn-wink:)

Some old old bike gear is also available if wanted or requried - jackets, pants, helmets gloves etc...no use to me anymore sadly

So grab a deal on one the most awarded bikes in honda's entire range!, a true classic with a great history, in great "original*" condition and with all the nice trick bits like an original 90's Harris carbon inner guard, a fiberglass under tail tidy, an original seat cowl, heated grips, Scots oiler, front fender extender, upgraded reg/rec

....She only needs some minor work to get her back on the road, she was a daily runner when parked up.

*Cut her some slack!, She's 22yrs old for f..ks sake lol...its the original paint, some cracks etc here & there, but she STILL pulls the bike lovers to admire and talk over her (You meet the nicest people on a honda :) )

Securing my leathers when leaving bike

Wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to solve this problem :

Want to ride my bike from Hamilton to Auckland wearing all my leathers.
Get to Auckland, park in K' Rd area. Get changed into street clothes and head out for the evening.

I could park my bike at a friends place in Te Atatu, but the Uber cost from there and back is a waste of good money.

So, parking in K' Rd (possibly inside the Wilsons car park). I can lock my helmet inside my top box and run a chain through my jacket and pants and chain to the bike. That leaves boots.

Any ideas on securing my boots ?
Am I mad leaving my leathers chained to my bike ?
If I'm going to do this, is out in full view on the street better than tucked away inside a car park building ?

I want to solve this for my European road trip next year, but am coming to Auck this Sat as well, so it's a good time to solve it.

What's the exhaust interface size for CBR 300r 2016?

Sup,

Does anyone knows what is the Exhaust Diameter of 300R 2016 model? (i know its noobi ques )

Looking to add some aftermarket exhaust (custom one) but they had mention that in ad that "it is only suitable for the interface size 38 mm to 51 mm" so really don't want to buy and find out that it does not fit :brick:

Thanks.....

Gear Strada Fibreglass Full Face

Vickis old Strada Full Face helmet. Its a fibreglass, relatively light helmet, blue with a silver graphic. S55 - 56 (small). Its better than tidy, nevr been dropped or had an accident. If I had any concerns - I would not sell it.. Its too nice to throw out, barely used but it never really fit her properly so she has a new one and out this goes.

um - NOT 5K obviously - $50.00

it looks like we have enough people prepared to step up to keep the series running for now. The first two dates for 2018 are Tokoroa 9/10 December and Taumarunui 6/7 Jan dependent on the road getting fixed, which looks hopeful. We'll have a round at Edgecumbe and possibly a round at New Plymouth with the dates to be announced once we get the Auckland calender for next year.

Had a Nap

Well its been a while, I had a snooze from KB but have dusted off my login. I see some familiar names still, many new ones.
Located in Northland these days, not done much riding over the last few years, but looking at getting back into it more as time allows.
Thought I would just say "hi, back again!":crazy:
Would like some pointers on best roads up here?

Had a Nap

Now we know. Deliberately left out of consutations

From Wellington Council.

The council's city networks chief transport advisor Steve Spence confirmed the sub-section of motorists is often deliberately left out of consultations

AND

"The position taken both at local and national level has been that motorcycling can't realistically be encouraged as a mode of transport because it is inherently dangerous when compared with, for example, travel by car or public transport."

From The Stuff today

The holy grail - or graily hole, whichever you prefer

so I am looking at tardme. So far so usual. Then I realise there isnt one bike that I look at that I dont go :Yeah, so if I buy that I have to budget $1000 for Robert Taylor to look at the forks, $2000 for a new rear shock, I dont like those handlebars/that seat/those tyres, whatever.

So what I want from you, the imaginary voices in my head, is a link to the one bike for sale (anywhere in the world) that you go "Yup, that is perfect and I wouldnt have to change anything". And I will ridicule your choice because, well, because.

My entry so far is one of these:

http://ift.tt/2vK2Z7S

though I am not sure how practical it might be for going down the shops for some fush n chups.

The holy grail - or graily hole, whichever you prefer

It's official - Wellington bikers are ignored...

WCC officially ignores the Capital's bikers - council says it won't back the "inherently dangerous" mode of transport.

a good breakdown of new features here: http://ift.tt/2vobz9L

looks good, such a neat swingarm for the cheap segment(from the V2) --- V3 however bumping up the capacity OVER 150cc to ~155cc which would preclude it from bucket racing F4 class?? would love to do a 4-8 hour endurance on something like this but i'm told i'm weird liking to ride so long on small bikes, being such a heavy and big bastard :weird:

Calimoto - Android app for route planning

Has anyone used the Calimoto app before? I managed to stumble across it by chance and have been well impressed with it. It's basically a navigation app built specifically for motorcyclists, it allows you to put in a destination just like Google Maps would and instead of finding the quickest route, it uses some funky algorithm to determine the twistiest roads to your destination while avoiding straights/motorways, etc. - you can also set stops along the way for gas and food, etc. and it takes it in to consideration when planning.

You can also add in the loop mode, where you can choose how many KMs you want to drive and it will calculate a round trip that will take you back to your starting point which is different every time. At the moment it's only available for Android but apparently the iOS version is coming soon. The first set of maps are free, the Auckland one covers of Northland, Auckland and Waikato. You can choose one depending on your location but there are others available for everywhere else for about $30. I think they're just an offline download of all the roads so you can use it where there's no data coverage.

Official site is here if you want a looksie.

Returning to riding

Hi all, just signed up today.

I am returning to riding after 4 years off the road. Previously rode a VTR250 for 4-5 years before writing it off when someone illegally u-turned in front of me and then proceeded to flee the scene of the accident!

I sat my CBTA F during the weekend after doing the Silver Ride Forever course via prorider.co.nz - it was lovely to be back on the road and I have nothing but great things to say about the course and it's content, as well as the excellent instructor (Kev Kinghan).

Am currently in the process of picking up a 2017 Yamaha MT-09 which I'm very much looking forward to. All the reviews I've read and the test ride suggest it's going to be a great bike. I've never had a new car or bike before so will be able to care for it properly from day one.

Mostly going to be commuting back and forth but will definitely head out in the weekends as it warms up a bit. Thanks for having me and I'll see you out on the road.

Cheers.

Is This For Real???

I hear a lot about things like the dark web etc...

This story is a frekin classic - http://ift.tt/2vF9CIK

Really? I mean most of the muppets that tell me about this shit couldn't find their arse from their elbow on a sunny day let alone conceal their activities from the authorities via some secret internet thingy

It sounds awfully like a set up to get some notoriety to me...

Suzuki Bandit 250 muffler and mid pipe

Hi there, recently purchased a 1995 Suzuki Bandit 250 (GJ77A model). It came with half an exhaust system. Only the branch headers. And missing the mid pipe and muffler. I have noticed there are a few aftermarket mufflers available, but they don't come with the mid pipe. Can anyone suggest an affordable solution? I am in the Wellington area.

cold kiwi tug of war KB team

less than a month to go for this one folks, as always the ruapehu club puts in a lot of effort to make it happen, this year they're piling some emphasis on the tug of war, who from KB is keen on putting together a four man/woman team? and whose gonna be there to support them?

Changing from 2 bikes to 1 bike + 1 car

I've thought long and hard and I've decided that one bike needs to go. Not completely a coincidence that this is the time of year that I get bills for both regos, 2 x $520 = $1040 and that stings a bit!

So, I've decided to keep the DR650 as my fun 'go anywhere' weekend bike and I'll be selling the ST1300. I'll definitely miss the big girl, tons of torque and capable of riding for a lot longer than I am.

I'm buying a Nissan Leaf to use primarily for the commute to work and back (70km total for the round trip) which will end up costing me >$2,000 less per year than using the ST1300. I added up the petrol, rego, tyres, oil & filters and compared that to $10-$15 worth of electricity per week + cheaper tyres that last longer. The total I worked out was between $2,000 and $2,300 per year. The rego alone is close to $450 dearer for a bike than a car that has good safety ratings. I guess I've been a little surprised about just how much cheaper I could be commuting.

If I was still commuting in Auckland there is no way I'd change from bike to car, no way in hell! But Morrinsville to Cambridge at 3am and then Cambridge to Morrinsville any time between 11am and 1pm (depending on how busy the day is) can't be compared to Auckland commuting. I've been away from Auckland for 4 1/2 years and hadn't driven a car since over 3 years before that - it has taken ~ 8 years of not driving a car in Auckland for the emotional scars to heal!

Of course there are a bunch of advantages to driving a car compared to riding a bike but I'll definitely be keeping one bike so I can enjoy my weekends and my holidays. If anything I'll probably enjoy riding a motorcycle more once I'm not having to do that every day to get to work.

I am thinking that I'll maybe trade in the DR650 on an African Twin, but that is probably around 3 years away. I'm thinking that an adventure/tourer would be just the right thing to travel around NZ. Until then I'll use my DR650 as an adventure bike.

I guess more of you guys own a car as well as the bike than those that just own a bike, but for me I sold my last car around 8 years ago when I was living in Auckland and I didn't regret that decision. But now with a run of rainy weather I'm kinda glad I'm getting a car again although I haven't regretted getting in lots of riding over the last few years. I guess now I'm getting bored of the run to work and back, it isn't the fun side of riding just going over the same roads every day for over 4 years. I do remember my first rego when I got the four hundy in '08, it cost $275 back then but after that the bastards really cranked up the ACC levy on bikes.

BMW 2008 R1200GS question ?

Hi All
I went for a ride today and noticed no tyre pressure reading on dash, Yellow light ! on dash lit up, RDC and the flat tyre icon on.
My best guess is tyre sensor battery gone. (after doing some reading)
My question is if one sensor goes flat first they both indicate flat and show no reading back and front ? or has anyone had a different experience.
I would have thought that when one sensor goes flat you would see one tyre pressure ready ok and the one reading nothing.
I think it stopped working mid ride as I never notice anything until an hr into the ride.
I'm just wondering if I have a deeper problem than tyre sensors. Seems a great hassle to remove tyres and replace sensors to fined out a reboot would have done it.
Interested in others experiences with this issue.

Recommendations on bike stand for KTM Adventure 1190 R

Hi guys,

Looking for some advice on bike stands for a KTM Adventure 1190 R.

My partners birthday's coming up and I know he loves to service his bike, change the tyres at home etc and he doesn't have a bike stand to do this. Last time he just put the bike on a car jack and other bits and bobs...

Any advice? Or does KTM make their own stand specific for the bike?

Otherwise any ideas on a good bday pressie in terms of accessories for the bike?

Cheers

Wanted: CDI for VFR400

Hi guys!
Sorry, not quite sure where to post this as the mobile site isn't happy with me!

Am looking for a CDI for a Honda VFR400 (NC30). I've been having intermittent issues with my bike and upon pulling the CDI out, found it swimming in water 😩

If anyone has one they'd sell me, I'd be stoked! Otherwise am looking at a few week wait from overseas.

Thanks!

Tis been a while... not sure where all the years went

After over 10 years (10 years and 3 months), managed to still remember my log in details.

What have I been up to since the old CRM250 busted and started it's long sad journey of sittting in bits in the garage? Working, seeing the kids become teenagers, marriage, divorce, more work, girlfriend, travel, more work, getting older, somehow never managing to either fix my baby or buy a new one.

This year I retrieved the CRM (or bits there of) from the ex's garage and took them to a Mechanic mate to see what if anything can be done with them.

So what brings me back? Turning the big 40 this year and with the encouragement of my lovely GF (any woman who calls you at work and says "skip work this afternoon so we can go bike shopping" is a keeper) I've pulled the trigger on a brand spanking new 2017 Yamaha R3. Hopefully will have my leg over by next weekend. :headbang:

Will be good to see who's still lurking around here.

NZ customs or duty fees (overseas order)

Hi, I recently ordered some boots off ebay. ($750NZD from seller 'perfmoto' if that matters)

I've never ordered anything from overseas to NZ before.

I called customs to ask about any fees I may have to pay and they ABSOLUTELY refused to comment until the product was actually in New Zealand (I even linked them to the order confirmation and what the product is)

Has anyone faced any fees; if so, what?

Thanks.

WTB GSXR750 K6 various parts needed

I have a 2006 Suzuki GSXR750
I am looking for several rubber grommets, cushions used to fit the fairings and a rear seat cowl locking mechanism 'the whole thing lock to mech'. I am converting a track bike back to road use and am missing those parts and no doubt others as I encounter them. If you have any bits let me know and how much you want for them.

Dainese suit to boot DIY integration

I just bought some Dainese in boots, however, i have a very old style Dainese race suit, it does not have the velcro in the bottom of the suit pant.

Any ideas on how I can get these items to work? I have thought about stitching the opposite sex velcro onto the inner lining of the suit, but will this destroy the lining? I've never used in boots before and don't really know how much the boots pull down the pants during a turn; I'd imagine quite a lot?
