Bike security chains (Tied to wheel)

What is the best chain to buy to tie my bike to any solid structures.

How big should the links be in order to reduce the chance of some bike theft cutting them.

Suzuki Summerfest dates?

So i'm looking to pickup a DRZ400SM to use as a hooligan-commuter, but am wary of laying down cash at the moment as we're not far out of Summer, and the inevitable Suzuki Summerfest.

Does anyone know the dates it usually runs from, and the type of deals associated? I vaguely remember something about a free Yoshi exhaust a few years ago, but can't find anything with my weak Google-Fu.

While visiting bike friendly Melbourne (the only Australian capital city to allow motorcycle parking on the footpath) I came across this BMW R1150GS ?

I suspect the owner is a trans-continental bike courier or he just loves riding his bike.

It's clocked up over 280,000km and the owner has worn through the handgrips.

I came across this on the web this morning.

It's just a concept design of course.

Now it may be my age and my fond memories of the original Katana, but it's the first Suzuki in some years that has sparked my interest.

This is what I'd like the GSX-S to look like.

Actually - GSXR should look like this. That new one, by all accounts a stunning bike, but those graphics .....

Katman will love it ...... maybe.

German Backbacker on a Motorcycle

Hi guys,

I arrive in Auckland in 21 Days for visiting a Friend of mine and having a Backpacking Adventure for approx. 8 months.

At first i thought of buying one of those typical Campervans... but lets be serious thats IMO the easy way... ;) nah i want the real thing: in a tent - on a bike.

I really enjoy my new Africa Twin here in Germany and i guess it would be the perfect Bike on the NZ Roads (I :love: the DCT-Gearbox) But shipping costs are insane.

I can get something like a DR, KLR, CRF or even a Farm Bike with some Racks for the shipping costs of my AT.



Anyways my plan is: Stay at my friends house for the first days, get a IRD Number, Bank Account and of course a Bike. And then head out and explore and even work from time to time... I'm a plumber here in Germany with 8 years work expierience.



Any thoughts on a company named redbaron? They have some interesting bikes and they even offer a buy back option.


I'm already super excited and I think this will be a once i a lifetime Journey.
